ACC: Data in Text Box Is Blank When Printed or Previewed

Last reviewed: May 14, 1997
Article ID: Q153964
The information in this article applies to:
  • Microsoft Access versions 7.0, 97

SYMPTOMS

Novice: Requires knowledge of the user interface on single-user computers.

When you print or preview a report or a form, a text box does not display data, even though the records have data in that field.

CAUSE

The text box control is blank when printed or previewed when the following are true:

  • The height of a text box control is smaller than the default height of the font selected for the text box.
  • The CanShrink property is set to Yes.
  • The CanGrow property is set to No.

RESOLUTION

Increase the height of the text box control by opening the report or form in Design view and using the mouse pointer to manually adjust the size of the text box to fit the font.

Change the CanGrow property to Yes. This enables the text box control to display data, but may adjust the alignment of data if the data extends past the width of the text box control.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft Access 7.0 and 97. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.
