MORE INFORMATION

Steps to Reproduce Behavior

  1. In Control Panel, create an ODBC data source to the Northwind database.

  2. Open Microsoft Excel and be sure Microsoft Query has been installed.

NOTE: If you have installed Microsoft Excel from Microsoft Office 97 Professional Edition, you will need to choose the Data Access option to install Microsoft Query.

  3. On the Data menu, point to Get External Data, and then click Create New Query.

  4. Select your data source and click OK.

  5. Add a few fields from the Customers table to "Columns in your query," and then click Next 3 times.

  6. Click "Return Data to Microsoft Excel" to select it, and then click Finish.

  7. In "Returning External Data to Microsoft Excel", accept the default Existing Worksheet, and then click OK.

  8. Save the workbook as Book1.

  9. On the Data menu, click MS Access Form and click OK. Note that you receive the error message mentioned in the "Symptoms" section.

NOTE: If the MS Access Form command does not appear on the Data menu, run Setup to install the AccessLinks add-in.
