ACC: Form Not Redrawn Properly When You Use Find Dialog Box

Last reviewed: October 14, 1997
Article ID: Q175058
The information in this article applies to:
  • Microsoft Access versions 7.0, 97

SYMPTOMS

Novice: Requires knowledge of the user interface on single-user computers.

When you position the Find dialog box over a form so that at least part of the form is obscured, and then you click Find on the Edit menu or press ALT+F to display the Find dialog box, a redraw problem may occur. If the form must scroll up or down to display the control containing the data that you are searching for, the controls on the form may not be redrawn properly.

RESOLUTION

Position the Find dialog box so that it doesn't cover the form.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft Access 7.0 and 97. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.

MORE INFORMATION

Steps to Reproduce Problem

  2. On the View menu, point to Database Objects, and then click Tables.

  3. Click the Orders table.

  4. On the Insert menu, click AutoForm.

  5. Resize the height of the new Orders form so that Freight box is at the bottom of the form and the Order ID box is at the top.

  6. On the Edit menu, click Find.

  7. Move the Find dialog box so that its upper-left corner is on the "S" of the Shipped Date label.

  8. In the Find dialog box, type "Belgium" (without the quotation marks) in the Find What box, and then click to clear the Search Only Current Field check box.

  9. Click Find First.

As the form scrolls up to display the Ship Country control, other controls near the top of the form may not be redrawn properly.
