Last reviewed: June 6, 1997
Article ID: Q93136
The information in this article applies to:
  • Microsoft Access versions 1.0, 1.1, 2.0, 7.0, 97

SYMPTOMS

Novice: Requires knowledge of the user interface on single-user computers.

Creating multiple new Import/Export specifications using the Import/Export Setup dialog box requires that you either exit the dialog box or delete or change each entry in the dialog box that does not apply. The dialog box does not provide a method to clear or reset each option inside the dialog box.

STATUS

This behavior is by design.

MORE INFORMATION

Steps to Reproduce Behavior in Microsoft Access 97 and 7.0

  1. Open the sample database Northwind.mdb.

  2. Highlight the Categories table.

  3. On the File menu, click Save As/Export. In the Save As dialog box click to select "To an External File or Database," and then click OK.

  4. In the Save Table dialog box, in the Save As Type box, select "Text Files (*.txt; *.csv; *.tab; *.asc)," and then click Export.

  5. The Export Text Wizard should come up at this point (or Text Export Wizard in Microsoft Access 7.0.) Click the Advanced button to create your Import/Export specification.

If you want to create another specification at this point, you must either exit the dialog box or manually add/delete all of the irrelevant information.

  1. Open any database or create a new one.

  2. On the File menu, click Imp/Exp Setup.
