ACC1x: Setup Leaves MS-SETUP.T Directory and Files on Disk

Last reviewed: May 14, 1997
Article ID: Q96992
The information in this article applies to:
  • Microsoft Access version 1.0

SYMPTOMS

If you request Microsoft Access SETUP.EXE to install SHARE.EXE and then reboot your computer when installation is complete, Setup does not properly erase the temporary directory MS-SETUP.T (and the files it contains) on your hard disk. This leftover directory contains data files totaling approximately 600K. These files occupy disk space, but otherwise have no affect on Microsoft Access or any other application.

RESOLUTION

Either do not choose Reboot Your Machine at the end of the installation process, or manually delete the temporary directory MS-SETUP.T and its files after you reboot.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft Access version 1.0. This problem has been corrected in Microsoft Access version 1.1.
