SYMPTOMSThe InternetSetOption API does not work for the following options when used with NTLM authentication:
RESOLUTIONUse InternetErrorDlg to set credentials for NTLM scheme, or ensure that the client computer has Internet Explorer 4.0 installed.
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed this to be a bug in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article. We are researching this bug and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available. This problem has been fixed in the Internet Client SDK, synchronized with Internet Explorer 4.0.
MORE INFORMATIONWhen the WinInet.dll from Internet Explorer 4.0 is used, the username and password can be set on handles returned from InternetConnect and HttpOpenRequest.
