Basket and Receipt Size Limits for Merchant and Commerce Server

The information in this article applies to:
  • Microsoft Commerce Server, version 2.0
  • Microsoft Merchant Server, version 1.0

Microsoft Merchant Server has the following limits:

  • The marshalled_receipt column in the receipt table has a 64 KB limit.
  • The marshalled_order column of the basket table has a limit of approximately 57 KB.

Commerce Server does not have either of these limits. In Commerce Server, the maximum limit on these columns depends on your relational database management system (RDBMS). For example, Microsoft SQL Server has a limit of 2 GB on image and text columns.
