The information in this article applies to:
  • Microsoft Commerce Server, version 2.0

Q. How do I scale Commerce Server, and can I use Session-level data?

A. You can install Commerce Server on multiple computers running Internet

Information Server (IIS) and use round-robin DNS to scale to your needs.
Because it is not possible to maintain Session-level data across
multiple servers, Microsoft does not recommend using Commerce Server
components at the Session-level. However, in a single computer
installation, you may be able to use Session-level data. In this case,
it is recommended that you test the system thoroughly. The starter
stores (Clockped, Volcano Coffee, Adventure Works, MS Press) that come
with Commerce Server do not use any Session-level data.
