The information in this article applies to:
SYMPTOMSOn your Proxy server, a pop-up message appears stating a memory access violation occured in one of the winsock *.DLL files, most likely Ws2help.dll or Msafd.dll. In some cases this can cause heap corruption and provoke an access violation in some other *.DLL files. This problem is much more common on a multi-processor than a single-processor computer.
RESOLUTIONObtain the fix mentioned below or wait for the next Service Pack.
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Windows NT version 4.0. This problem was corrected in the latest Windows NT 4.0 U.S. Service Pack. For information on obtaining the Service Pack, query on the following word in the Microsoft Knowledge Base (without the spaces):
