Publisher 3.0/4.0 Does Not Print Brick or Vertical Line Patterns

SYMPTOMS

When you print a file from Microsoft Publisher version 3.0 or 4.0, brick and vertical line patterns may not print correctly to one or more of the following PostScript printers:

  • Hewlett-Packard LaserJet 5Si MX PS
  • Hewlett-Packard LaserJet 5Si MX PS Mopier
  • Hewlett-Packard LaserJet 4Si MX PS
  • Hewlett-Packard LaserJet 4M Plus PS
  • IBM 4079 PS
  • Lexmark Optra C PS

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, obtain the following fix or wait for the next Windows NT service pack.

This fix should have the following time stamp:

   07/15/97  09:39p               323,344 User32.dll (Intel)
   07/25/97  05:39p             1,233,872 Win32k.sys (Intel)

   07/15/97  08:38p               579,344 User32.dll (Alpha)
   07/25/97  04:38p             2,044,304 Win32k.sys (Alpha)


STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Windows NT version 4.0. A supported fix is now available, but has not been fully regression tested and should be applied only to systems experiencing this specific problem. Unless you are severely impacted by this specific problem, Microsoft recommends that you wait for the next Service Pack that contains this fix. Contact Microsoft Technical Support for more information.
