You can use Microsoft Excel for the Macintosh to play QuickTime movies that were created in other applications. To take advantage of this feature, the following operating environment conditions must be met:

  • You must be using Apple Macintosh system software version 7.0 or later.
  • The QuickTime extension, which is available from Apple Computer, must be installed.
  • The Wild Magic control panel device, which is available from Apple Computer, must be installed and turned on.

NOTE: This is not required for Microsoft Excel 98 Macintosh Edition.

  • The Movie Maker add-in macro, which is part of the Microsoft Excel version 4.0 Macro Library, must be installed, either by using the add-in manager or by opening it from the Macro Library.

NOTE: This is not required for Microsoft Excel 5.0

If all of the above conditions are met, you can open a QuickTime movie in another application, such as Simple Player, and then copy it and paste it to Microsoft Excel. To play the movie, click the short strip of film along the image or the film picture inside the film.
