SYMPTOMSIf you are using WinFax 3.0 with Microsoft Excel for Windows, one of the default worksheets will be displayed when you start Microsoft Excel.
CAUSEThe manual for WinFax suggests that you copy one of two macro files to the XLSTART directory, WINFAX1.XLM or WINFAX2.XLM. If you copy either WINFAX1.XLM or WINFAX2.XLM to the XLSTART directory, Microsoft Excel may not be able to load without a default worksheet opening and your Display Options may default to the R1C1 reference style (even if you have a template that specifies the A1 style). This situation occurs because WINFAX1 and WINFAX2.XLM contain an auto-open macro that, by default, displays a new worksheet.
WORKAROUNDTo correct the problem, you can edit the auto-open macro as follows:
