SUMMARYIn the versions of Microsoft Excel listed at the beginning of this article, there are two types of defined names: global names and local names. Global names are available to the entire workbook and local names are available only to the sheet where they are defined. The amount of system resources and/or memory used by global and local names are the same. NOTE: In Microsoft Excel versions 5.0 and later, local names behave similarly to defined names in earlier versions of Microsoft Excel.
