SYMPTOMSIn Microsoft Excel, when you create a PivotTable, or add a column field to an existing PivotTable, you may receive the following error message
Not enough memory to completely display PivotTable.and the PivotTable is not created or the column field is not added.
CAUSEThis error message appears when you add too many column fields to the PivotTable. The number of column fields that you can add to a PivotTable varies with the amount of data in the PivotTable and the memory available on your computer.
WORKAROUNDWhen you create a PivotTable, limit the number of column fields you use to three or four, especially when you create the PivotTable from a large database. When you need to create a PivotTable with a large number of fields, use row fields. Because row fields do not use as much memory as column fields, you will be able to add more row fields to your PivotTable than column fields. In Microsoft Excel for Windows 95, you may be able to use as many as nine column fields in a PivotTable without receiving the "Not enough memory" error message.
MORE INFORMATIONYou can add a row or column field to an existing PivotTable using the shortcut menu by doing the following:
