The information in this article applies to:
  • Microsoft Excel for Windows, versions 4.0, 4.0a, 5.0

SYMPTOMS

In Microsoft Excel versions 4.0 and later, if you are using a high- resolution screen, doughnut (version 5.0 only) and pie charts may appear to be oval in shape, rather than round.

CAUSE

When you use a Microsoft Windows display driver or third-party display driver that supports resolutions greater than 640-by-480 pixels, round objects or pictures may appear distorted.

STATUS

The distortion does not affect printed output of the chart or object; it only affects how the image is displayed on the screen.

Microsoft is researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.
