SYMPTOMSWhen you choose Get External Data from the Data menu to get data from an Oracle database, you may receive following error message in Microsoft Excel:
Opening Query Failed CAUSEThis error message may occur in Microsoft Excel when you attempt to get data from an Oracle database, and you include any of the following operators in the SQL Statement that requests the data:
Minus Intersect Union SubstringWORKAROUND Although there is no direct workaround for this problem, you may be able to get the desired results with joins rather than using the operators mentioned above (joins behave similarly to the SQL operators that generate the error message).
