XL5 Quick Preview: Can't Use BACKSPACE Key To Delete Text

SYMPTOMS

When you run the Quick Preview included with Microsoft Excel version 5.0 for Windows, you are instructed to use the BACKSPACE key to delete cell contents. However, when you use the BACKSPACE key, the value in the cell is not deleted.

RESOLUTION

When you are prompted to use the BACKSPACE key, use DELETE or the DEL key instead.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft Excel version 5.0 for Windows. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.
