SYMPTOMSIn the Open dialog box in Microsoft Excel, when you select a subdirectory from the Directories list, and then choose the OK button, the current directory listed under Directories does not change to the subdirectory that you selected .
CAUSEWhen you press ENTER in the Open dialog box while a subdirectory is selected in the Directories list, the selected subdirectory becomes the current directory. This is the expected behavior. However, if you choose the OK button, while a subdirectory is selected, the current directory in the Directories list is selected, and the current directory listed under Directories does not change.
WORKAROUNDTo select a subdirectory in the Open dialog box using the mouse, double-click the subdirectory name in the Directories list.
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article. This problem was corrected in Microsoft Excel version 5.0c for Windows.
