MXL5: MS Excel Starts and Then Quits Without Error MessageLast reviewed: March 13, 1998Article ID: Q121325 |
The information in this article applies to:
SYMPTOMSWhen you start Microsoft Excel version 5.0 on an Apple Power Macintosh, you may see the zoom rectangle zoom out (to indicate that the program is starting) and then zoom back in (indicating that the program quit), but you do not receive an error message indicating why the program is not started.
CAUSEThis behavior occurs if the PowerPC Finder Update system extension is not located in the Extensions folder of the System Folder. This extension allows the operating system in general, and the Finder in particular, to display error messages when an application quits unexpectedly.
