SUMMARYIn the versions of Microsoft Excel listed at the beginning of this article, you can choose how references are handled in recorded macros (that is, whether they are recorded as absolute or relative references) BEFORE you start the recording session. This behavior is different from earlier versions of Microsoft Excel (including version 5.0.)
MORE INFORMATIONIn versions of Microsoft Excel earlier than 5.0c, you must start recording the macro before you are able to specify absolute or relative references. (Note, however, that even though this step is performed after you begin recording, it is not recorded in the macro.) In the versions of Microsoft Excel listed at the beginning of this article, to specify absolute or relative references, choose Record Macro from the Tools menu. If you want to use relative references, choose the Use Relative References command (when this option is active, a check mark will appear next to it).
