XL7: Resizing Document Windows Shifts Document Off Screen

SYMPTOMS

If you size a document window to nearly full size and then shift the document so that it is mostly off the screen, if you then change the windows' settings from 1024x768 to 640x480, the entire document will be shifted off the screen.

CAUSE

The message that Microsoft Excel 7.0 sends to Microsoft Windows 95 to process the display change message is not processed correctly.

RESOLUTION

Once the resolution is changed, click Arrange on the Window menu, and then click the Tiled option. The document will fill the appropriate area.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.
