XL5: Incorrect Average Using Anova Two-Factor With Replication

SYMPTOMS

In Microsoft Excel, when you use Anova: Two-Factor With Replication, the total average in the Summary table is incorrect.

CAUSE

The error occurs because Microsoft Excel adds the individual averages to get a total average instead of actually averaging them.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article. This problem was corrected in Microsoft Excel for Windows version 5.0c.
