  • Microsoft Query for Windows, version 1.0

SUMMARY

When you use a Microsoft Access data source in Microsoft Query, you receive the following error message when you add a view from the Add Tables dialog box to the Table pane

Undefined function '<function name>' in expression

where <function name> is the name of a custom function you defined.

MORE INFORMATION

In Microsoft Access, you can define a custom (user-defined) function that takes one or more arguments and returns a result that can be used in an expression, such as a SELECT statement. In Microsoft Query, a Microsoft Access query is called a "View," and it returns a result set in a tabular format. A view can be selected from the Add Tables dialog box and added to the Data pane. If the view is based on a SELECT statement containing a user- defined function, the error message in the "Summary" section of this article will be displayed.
