2.00 WINDOWS kbtool kbusage xlquery

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Query for Windows 95, version 2.0
  • Microsoft Excel for Windows 95, version 7.0

SYMPTOMS

You cannot create a scrap when using Microsoft Query.

WORKAROUND

To work around this situation, use the following steps to create the scrap using Microsoft Excel or Microsoft Word:

  1. Select the results from Microsoft Query, then click Copy on the Edit menu.

  2. Start Microsoft Excel or Microsoft Word.

  3. On the Edit menu, click Paste.

If you are using Microsoft Excel, skip to step 6.

  1. Select the text, then click Convert Text To Table on the Table menu.

  2. Separate text at Tabs and click OK.

  3. Select the data, and then click Copy on the Edit menu.

  4. Use the right mouse button to click the desktop. On the shortcut menu, click Paste.

NOTE: A Microsoft Excel sheet cannot exceed 16,384 rows by 256 columns; a Microsoft Word table cannot exceed 32,767 rows by 31 columns.

MORE INFORMATION

This behavior is by design. Microsoft Query does not support the drag-and- drop functions for OLE.

A scrap is a file that is created when you copy part of a document and paste it on the desktop.
