SYMPTOMSIn the Microsoft Accounting Analysis Pack (AAP), when you use the Import Wizard to import accounting files, you are unable to type a UNC path into the Step 2 dialog box.
CAUSEThis behavior is by design of the Microsoft Accounting Analysis Pack (AAP).
WORKAROUNDTo import files that are stored on a server, you must first map a drive letter to the appropriate network path. To do this, follow these steps:
MORE INFORMATIONThe Import Wizard included with the Microsoft Accounting Analysis Pack allows you to import accounting files into Microsoft Excel. If you choose to Import an accounting file into Microsoft Excel, the Step 2 dialog box of the Import Wizard, which allows you to determine where the AAP will search for accounting files, will not allow you to enter a UNC (Universal Naming Convention) path to the files you want to import. The dialog box only allows you to choose from a list of already-mapped drive letters. For example, if your accounting files are stored in a folder called Acctfils on the server Adastra, the UNC path for the files would be \\Adastra\Acctfils. You cannot enter this path into the Step 2 dialog box. When you use the Import Wizard to import your files, choose the appropriate drive letter from the list of drives in the Step 2 dialog box. Once you are finished importing files, you can unmap the drive letters. To do this, on the Tools menu in Windows Explorer, click Disconnect Network Drive. For more information about how to perform this task in Windows, see your Windows printed documentation or online Help.
