The information in this article applies to:
SYMPTOMSIn Microsoft Excel, when you enter text in a cell, if the default currency symbol under the International Settings in the Control Panel is set to a space character, Microsoft Excel may stop responding (hang). If you enter numbers into cells when the default currency symbol is set to a space character, you will not experience this problem in Microsoft Excel.
RESOLUTIONTo correct this problem, change the Currency Symbol setting in the Control Panel to a character other than a space character. Microsoft Excel for Windows, version 5.x or Microsoft Excel for Windows NT, version 5.0To change the currency symbol, do the following:
Microsoft Excel for Windows 95, versions 7.0To change the currency symbol:
Microsoft Excel for the Macintosh, versions 5.xTo change the currency symbol:
