The information in this article applies to:
SYMPTOMSIn Microsoft Excel 97, when you copy and then paste an entire column in a worksheet, the paste operation may take up to four times as long to complete as it does in earlier versions of Microsoft Excel.
CAUSEWorksheets in earlier versions of Microsoft Excel can contain up to 16384 rows of information; worksheets in Microsoft Excel 97 can contain up to 65536 rows, or four times the number rows that earlier versions handle.
MORE INFORMATIONThe amount of time required to paste copied cells is roughly proportional to the number of cells you copy. For example, if you copy an entire column of cells in Microsoft Excel 97, the time required to paste the 65536 cells is roughly four times the time required to perform the same operation in an earlier version of Microsoft Excel. This is true because a column of cells in an earlier version contains only 16384 cells.
