SYMPTOMSWhen you save a workbook that contains a chart in the "Microsoft Excel 5.0/95 Workbook" format, the following message may appear:
This workbook contains features that are not supported by the file format you selected. To avoid the possible loss of formatting or information, be sure to save a copy in the most recent Microsoft Excel Workbook format. CAUSEThis behavior occurs when either of the following conditions is true:
MORE INFORMATIONSaving workbooks in the Microsoft Excel 5.0/95 Workbook format saves charts. Note that the chart formats that are new in Microsoft Excel 97 are converted to different formats when you save the workbook in the Microsoft Excel 5.0/95 Workbook format. The following table lists the formats to which the new chart formats are converted.

This chart is interpreted as an xy (scatter) chart. NOTE: Excel 97 allows for rotated text in charts while earlier versions of Excel do not. However, Excel 97 does not indicate that this formatting is lost when you save the file in an earlier version format.
