SYMPTOMSIn Microsoft Excel, when you use the Links dialog box to change a link from manual updating to automatic updating, the link may not be updated automatically.

MORE INFORMATIONIn Microsoft Excel, you can create a link to a DDE server program by typing a formula similar to the following:
=DDEServer|Topic!ValueBy default, when you create such a formula, the formula is updated automatically; that is, whenever the DDE server program broadcasts new information, the formula automatically displays the new information. You can change this behavior by using the Links dialog box (on the Edit menu, click Links). If you click Manual at the bottom of the dialog box, the link is updated only when you click Update Now.
