SUMMARY

Normally, if you want to customize a menu bar or toolbar, you must first display the Customize dialog box (click Customize on the Tools menu). However, there is a way to customize menu bars and toolbars without having to display the Customize dialog box.

NOTE: This "Quick Customize" mode for modifying menu bars and toolbars does not include all the features on the Customize dialog box.

MORE INFORMATION

The following steps show you how to customize the Worksheet menu bar without displaying the Customize dialog box:

Deleting a Menu

  1. Press the ALT key and then place your mouse pointer over the Help menu control.

  2. With the ALT key pressed, hold down your mouse button and drag the Help menu control onto your workbook.

This deletes the Help menu from the Worksheet menu bar.

Reordering a Menu Bar

  1. Press the ALT key and then place your mouse pointer over the Window menu control.

  2. With the ALT key pressed, hold down your mouse button and drag the Window menu control to the left along the Worksheet menu bar.

As you move the Window menu control along the Worksheet menu bar, a thick insertion bar indicates the insertion point for the control.

  3. Place the insertion bar just to the left of the Tools menu control and then let go of both the ALT key and your mouse button.

This moves the Window menu to the left of the Tools menu.

NOTE: These procedures also work on toolbars.

Reset the Worksheet Menu Bar

  1. Using the right mouse button, click the Worksheet menu bar.

  2. Click Customize on the shortcut menu.

  3. On the Toolbars tab, click the Worksheet Menu Bar item and then click Reset.

  4. Click OK in the warning dialog box that appears.

  5. Click Close.

The Worksheet menu bar is reset to its default settings.
