SBFM97: 'Run-time Error 13' Using Compare What-If Scenarios

SYMPTOMS

When you attempt to perform a "Compare What-If Scenarios" analysis in the What-If Overview, the following error message appears:

   Run-time error '13':

   Type mismatch

When you click End, an hourglass appears. This hourglass does not disappear until you quit the Microsoft Excel program.

Note that you can still use the Microsoft Excel menus even though the pointer is an hourglass.

CAUSE

This problem occurs when you do the following:

  • You reimport Quickbooks for Windows accounting data.

        -and-
    
  • You attempt to perform a Compare What-If Scenarios analysis.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, do the following before you run the Compare What-If Scenarios analysis:

  1. Click any of the following Analysis Categories on the What-If Overview workbook:

          Profitability
          AR
          AP
          Inventory
          Expenses & Taxes
          Finance
          Buy vs. Lease.
    

  2. Modify any of the values on the corresponding analysis workbook.

  3. Click What-If Overview to go back to the What-If Overview workbook, and then click Save.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article. This problem has been fixed in the updated versions of the Quickbooks driver and Msapp.dll.
