XL97: Export Method Code Example in Help Is Incorrect

SYMPTOMS

In Microsoft Excel 97, when you run a Visual Basic for Applications macro that exports a chart into a GIF file, you may receive the following error message:

   Run-time error '1004':
   Application-defined or object-defined error

CAUSE

This problem occurs if you use the OutputFileName argument with the Export method. Note that this argument is used in the example code for the topic for the Export method in the Microsoft Excel Visual Basic Help file. The argument in the example is as follows:

   Charts(1).Export _
       OutputFileName:="current_sales.gif", FilterName:="GIF"

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.
