SYMPTOMSWhen you run a macro that tiles windows of open workbooks, you do not receive the results you expect.
CAUSEThis behavior occurs if one of the open windows is minimized.
WORKAROUNDMicrosoft provides examples of Visual Basic for Applications procedures for illustration only, without warranty either expressed or implied, including, but not limited to the implied warranties of merchantability and/or fitness for a particular purpose. The Visual Basic procedures in this article are provided 'as is' and Microsoft does not guarantee that they can be used in all situations. While Microsoft support engineers can help explain the functionality of a particular macro, they will not modify these examples to provide added functionality, nor will they help you construct macros to meet your specific needs. If you have limited programming experience, you may want to consult one of the Microsoft Solution Providers. Solution Providers offer a wide range of fee-based services, including creating custom macros. For more information about Microsoft Solution Providers, call Microsoft Customer Information Service at (800) 426-9400. Ensure that no windows are minimized before you run the macro or modify the macro code so that it sets all windows to the normal state before it tiles the windows. You can run the following example macro without error, however, the macro does not tile windows if any open window in the program is minimized:
Sub test() Application.Windows.Arrange ArrangeStyle:=xlArrangeStyleTiled End SubTo tile the windows, use the following macro:
Sub test() For Each x in Workbooks x.Activate ActiveWindow.WindowState=xlNormal Next x Application.Windows.Arrange ArrangeStyle:=xlArrangeStyleTiled End Sub STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft Excel 97 for Windows.
REFERENCESFor more information about tiling windows through Microsoft Visual Basic for Applications, click the Office Assistant in the Visual Basic Editor, type "arrange method" (without the quotation marks), click Search, and then click to view the "Arrange Method" topic. NOTE: If the Assistant is hidden, click the Office Assistant button on the Standard toolbar.
