XL97: MRU Displays UNC Path to File on Mapped Drive

SYMPTOMS

When you open a file from a mapped network drive, the file may be listed twice on the most recently used file list. One of the listings on the most recently used file list displays the mapped network path to the file, the other listing displays the universal naming convention (UNC) path to the file.

CAUSE

This problem occurs if you open the file from a network drive that is mapped to a drive letter.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft Excel 97 for Windows. This problem was corrected in Microsoft Excel 97 for Windows, Service Release 1.
