SYMPTOMS

When you press the eject button on your CD-ROM drive, Microsoft Excel 97 may close unexpectedly.

NOTE: This behavior occurs regardless of whether there is a compact disc in the CD-ROM drive.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, eject the contents of the CD-ROM drive by using Microsoft CD Player. To do this, do the following:

  1. On the Start Menu, point to Programs. Point to Accessories, point to Multimedia, and then click CD Player.

  2. Click the eject button in Microsoft CD Player.

NOTE: This procedure works only if a compact disc is in the CD-ROM drive.

MORE INFORMATION

Microsoft CD Player is an accessory component of Microsoft Windows 95. If you are unable to find this component, it may not be installed on your computer. To install Microsoft CD Player, do the following:

  1. On the Start menu, point to Settings, and then Click Control Panel.

  2. Double-click Add/Remove Programs.

  3. Click the Windows Setup tab.

  4. Click Multimedia in the Components list and click Details.

  5. Click CD Player and click OK.

  6. Click OK.

Note that you are prompted for the media from which you installed Microsoft Windows 95.
