SYMPTOMSIn Microsoft Excel 97, if you use the cropping controls in the Picture tab of the Format dialog box, one or more ActiveX controls in the active worksheet may be cropped.
CAUSEThis problem will occur if you have a combination of pictures and ActiveX controls selected when you crop the selected objects.
RESOLUTIONTo prevent this problem from occurring, make sure that no ActiveX controls are selected when you use the cropping controls to trim pictures in your worksheet. If the problem has already occurred, you can uncrop the controls. To do so, follow these steps:
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.
MORE INFORMATIONIn Microsoft Excel 97, when you click Object on the Format menu, the Format dialog box contains different tabs, depending on which type of object is currently selected. For example:
Object Type Displayed Tabs -------------------------------------------------------------- ActiveX Control Size, Protection, Properties Picture Colors And Lines, Size, Picture, Protection, PropertiesIf you have a picture and an ActiveX control selected at the same time, the Format dialog box will contain all of the listed tabs, even though two of the tabs (Colors And Lines and Picture) do not apply to ActiveX controls. If you use the cropping controls in the Picture tab, the selected ActiveX controls will be trimmed when you click OK.
