XL7: Microsoft Excel Quits When You Use a PivotTable

SUMMARY

When you work with a PivotTable in Microsoft Excel, the program quits and no error messages appear.

CAUSE

This problem occurs when the following conditions are true:

  • You use Microsoft Excel under Microsoft Windows NT version 3.51 or later.

    -and-

  • You get data for the PivotTable from an external data source.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article. This problem was corrected in Microsoft Excel 97 for Windows.
