XL97: Chart Border Is Too Large or Small After Using Paste Link

SYMPTOMS

When you link to a Microsoft Excel 97 chart object from another Microsoft Office 97 program, the chart object border may be scaled too large or too small.

CAUSE

This behavior occurs if the following conditions are true:

  • You copy an Excel 97 chart object while you are using a zoom setting other than 100 percent.

        -and-
    
  • In another Office 97 program, you click Paste Special on the Edit menu and click Paste Link to paste the chart object.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this behavior, use a zoom setting of 100 percent when you copy and paste the chart object.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.
