The information in this article applies to:
SYMPTOMSIn Microsoft Excel 97 for Windows, if you click Exit on the File menu or if you press ALT+F4, Microsoft Excel may quit without prompting you to save changes to unsaved workbooks. The same problem may occur in Microsoft Excel 98 Macintosh Edition if you click Quit on the File menu or if you press COMMAND+Q.
CAUSEThis problem may occur when the following conditions are true:
RESOLUTIONTo resolve this problem, save the workbook when you are prompted by Microsoft Excel. Insert hyperlinks only in workbooks that you saved at least once.
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.
