XL: Subtotals Are Not Recalculated After Displaying Custom View

SYMPTOMS

In the versions of Microsoft Excel listed at the beginning of this article, the Subtotal function may not calculate values correctly when you display a custom view.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, use one of the following appropriate workarounds.

Microsoft Excel 98 Macintosh Edition

If you are using Microsoft Excel 98 Macintosh Edition, press CONTROL+OPTION+F9.

Microsoft Excel 97

If you are using Microsoft Excel 97, press CONTROL+ALT+F9.

Microsoft Excel 7.0 or Earlier

If you are using Microsoft Excel version 7.0 or earlier, apply the same filter options you initially used to create the view.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.
