SYMPTOMS

When you use the Customize dialog box in Microsoft Excel 97 to change the Worksheet menu bar, the following commands may be missing from the Commands list.

   Command Menu name Submenu name
   -----------------------------------------------

   Save as HTML File
   Custom Views View
   Report Manager View
   Goal Seek Tools
   Solver Tools
   Conditional Sum Tools Wizard
   File Conversion Tools Wizard

   Web Form Tools Wizard
   Template Wizard Data

NOTE: There is a Custom Views command in the Commands list. However this command has a drop-down list box. The original Custom Views command does not have a drop-down list box.

CAUSE

This problem occurs when you click Customize on the Tools menu, and then click the Commands tab to add a command that is listed in the table in the "Symptoms" section.

WORKAROUND

You can restore some of the commands by removing, and then adding the reference to an add-in. To do this, follow these steps:

  1. On the Tools menu, click Add-ins.

  2. Click to clear the <Add-In name> check box. Click OK.

       Add-In name Command
       ----------------------------------------------------

       Conditional Sum Wizard Conditional Sum
       File Conversion Wizard File Conversion
Internet Assistant Wizard Save as HTML
       Lookup Wizard Lookup
       Report Manager Report Manager
       Solver Add-In Solver
Template Wizard with Data Tracking Template Wizard
       Web Form Wizard Web Form

  3. On the Tools menu, click Add-ins.

  4. Click the <Add-In name> check box. Click OK.

Restoring the Custom Views and Goal Seek Commands

Clicking an add-in does not restore the Custom Views and Goal Seek commands. To restore these commands, follow these steps.

NOTE: By following these steps, you reset the entire Worksheet toolbar.

  1. On the Tools menu, click Customize, and then click the Toolbars tab.

  2. Click Worksheet Menu Bar.

If you clear the Worksheet Menu Bar check box, click the check box again to select it.

  3. Click Reset.
