SYMPTOMSWhen you open a Lotus 1-2-3 Release 3 format file in Microsoft Excel 98, the fill color of a range of cells may be changed to black. If you open the file in Lotus 1-2-3, the cells are no longer formatted with a fill color.
CAUSEThe problem occurs when the following conditions are true:
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.
MORE INFORMATIONIf you apply certain colors to a range of cells, and then save the file in the "WK3,FM3(1-2-3)" file format, the colors may be changed to black. The following colors are changed to black:
