SUMMARY

Microsoft Excel will not find dates if they are entered as they appear in the cell and the Look In option in the Formula Find dialog box is set to Formulas.

To search for dates on a spreadsheet, enter the date in the Find What box as "m/d/yyyy" (without quotation marks).

For example, if the date is April 7, 1990, do the following to find this date on the spreadsheet:

  1. From the Formula menu, choose Find.

  2. Enter "4/7/1990" (without quotation marks) in the Find What box.

  3. Choose the OK button.

MORE INFORMATION

Another method of finding dates is to enter the date as it appears in the cell and select Values for the Look In option in the Formula Find dialog box.
