Excel: Can't Change Left/Right Margins for Headers and FootersLast reviewed: October 16, 1995Article ID: Q26626 |
The information in this article applies to:
In Microsoft Excel, headers and footers always have left and right margins of 0.75 inch. Therefore, left-aligned text in the header or footer will always begin 0.75 inch from the left edge, regardless of the left margin. Similarly, right-aligned text will always print to 0.75 on the right side. When you use the Legal size paper option, Microsoft Excel positions left- aligned text in the header or footer approximately 1 inch from the left side. This change in margin size is to allow for the limitations of the LaserWriter when you print to legal size paper.
