Excel: Database Find Stops on Every Record in Database

SUMMARY

The Microsoft Excel database Find command (on the Data menu) may stop on every record in each of the following situations:

  1. If the cells beneath the field names in the criteria range are blank.

  2. If the field names in the criteria range are not valid. The field names in the criteria range must directly match field names in the database range unless computed criteria are being used.

  3. If the database was set without the field names included in the selection. To check this, choose Define Name from the Formula menu and click on "Database." Make sure the range listed in the Refers To box includes the row containing the field names.
