  • Microsoft Excel for Windows, versions 2.x, 3.0, 4.0, 4.0a, 5.0
  • Microsoft Excel for OS/2 versions 2.2, 2.21, and 3.0

To use the SEARCH function or the FORMULA.REPLACE function in Microsoft Excel to search for a double quotation mark (") use """" (four double quotation marks) or CHAR(34) as the search text argument.

For example, use:

   =FORMULA.REPLACE("""","*")

   -or-

   =FORMULA.REPLACE(CHAR(34),"*")

Either of the above commands will search a string for a double quotation mark and replace it with an asterisk.
