Excel: Automatic Versus Manual RecalculationLast reviewed: November 2, 1994Article ID: Q28573 |
SUMMARYIn Excel 3.00 both Manual and Automatic recalculations of a worksheet performs an "intelligent recalculation." This means that when you change a value in a worksheet, Excel knows which formulas need to be recalculated and recalculates only those formulas. In Excel 2.20 when Calculation is set to Automatic an "intelligent recalculation" is done. However when a manual recalculation is performed, Excel recalculates the entire document. For more information on calculation, see Pages 285-292 of the "Microsoft Excel User's Guide" version 3.00 manual or Pages 31-36 of the "Microsoft Excel Reference" version 2.2 manual.
