SYMPTOMSIn Microsoft Excel, when printing in landscape mode with a Hewlett- Packard (HP) DeskJet printer and using the default Helvetica 10 font on a spreadsheet, all text on the page prints as Script rather than Helvetica. This problem has also been reported to occur on the HP Deskjet Plus.
CAUSEThe HP DeskJet and DeskJet Plus driver included with Microsoft Windows version 2.x and 3.0 does not support any landscape fonts on the printer, either internal or cartridge fonts. Because of this limitation, Microsoft Windows tries to approximate the appropriate landscape font.
WORKAROUNDThe only landscape fonts that can be printed to the HP DeskJet or HP DeskJet plus from Microsoft Windows are the 3 Windows vector fonts (Modern, Roman, and Script). The same problem occurs with the drivers shipped with Microsoft Windows 3.1, when using MS Sans Serif or Arial and printing in landscape mode with borders. To print cell contents, use a vector font like Modern.
