Excel: Series Command to Increment Time by 15 or 30 Minutes

SUMMARY

To increment time by 15 or 30 minutes with the Series command in Microsoft Excel, do the following:

  1. Enter the starting time in the first cell of the series.

  2. Highlight the range where the series is to be placed, including the cell containing the starting time.

  3. From the Data menu, choose Series.

  4. Enter the appropriate Step Value for 15- or 30-minute increments:

    a. For a 15-minute increment, enter 0:15 as the Step Value.

    b. For a 30-minute increment, enter 0:30 as the Step Value.

  5. Click OK.

  6. With the range still selected, choose Number from the Format menu and select the desired time format. Click OK.
