SUMMARY

If you want to add data to a high-low-average line chart (type 8) in Excel without re-creating the chart, you must modify three different series formulas by editing the series formulas in the formula bar, or when using version 3.0, by using the Edit Series command from the Chart menu.

MORE INFORMATION

To edit using the formula bar, do the following:

  1. Use the arrow keys to select series 1 (you will see "S1P1" in the cell-reference area of the formula bar).

  2. Modify the references in the series formula to include the new data.

  3. Press the ENTER key.

Use the arrow keys to select Series 2 and Series 3 and change them in the same manner. The new chart will show the extra categories and high-low lines.
